Return
A Living Memorial

Debbie Melton was so loved and respected her family, friends, and former colleagues didn't mind standing in the cold for a memorial service for her.

In fact, some even smiled, remembering her fondly.

Melton was a professor at Dalton State from 1989 to 2003 when she was diagnosed with cancer.

President Emeritus Dr. Jim Burran shared memories of her.

Her family told how she taught them math, even as children.

She and Dr. Lee Ann Nimmons were often called upon to help students succeed in required math courses.

Her children shared memories at what was a poignant ceremony.

Melton was so admired, a tree was planted in her memory by the College.

Her church planted a tree at the College as well.

Members of Roadrunner Nation may be gone....

But they are never forgotten.
